THE DETAILS: The Philly POPS, the largest standalone pops orchestra in the nation, is presenting its annual A Philly POPS Christmas: Spectacular Sounds of the Season virtually this year, with the concert available to stream for free on the orchestra’s website from December 18 through January 1. The seasonal showcase will feature spirited renditions of holiday classics by the POPS alongside Hamilton star Mandy Gonzalez and energetic pianist Charlie Albright, as well as choir performances by The Philly POPS Festival Chorus, The Philadelphia Boys Choir, and The African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas Gospel Choir.

Tune in online for a festive boat parade
THE DETAILS: The Independence Seaport Museum’s annual Parade of Lights – which features a series of boats sailing up the Delaware River while decked out in holiday lights, wreaths, and other decorations, along with an appearance from Santa Claus – will not happen in person in 2020. However, the museum is committed to keeping the tradition alive and will instead host a virtual viewing party for a pre-recorded parade on Saturday, December 12 at 5:30 p.m. The video will be broadcast on the museum’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube accounts. Gaze at the majestic U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree in Washington DC
Each year, a tree from a National Forest in the U.S. is brought to the Capitol, where it resides on the West Lawn throughout the season. This year’s tree comes from Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison national forests in Colorado. The tree will be set aglow in early December.

Enjoy ‘A Christmas Carol: The Radio Play’ Tune into Ford’s Theatre here
As it takes its annual and highly acclaimed performance of Charles Dickens’ ’A Christmas Carol’ to the airwaves this year. WAMU 88.5 FM will broadcast the play on Christmas Day at 12 p.m., but you can access the one-hour performance, which features Craig Wallace as Scrooge, on the Ford’s Theatre website beginning Dec. 14. The Theatre will also offer a downloadable program featuring photos and holiday-themed content.
